Saturday: Alberobello.
Arrive in Alberobello, or in the nearness, accommodation in the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
2° day.
Sunday: Castellana Grottoes – Alberobello.
After breakfast, visit of the Castellana Grottoes. The most known whole spelaeologic of all Italy. In the afternoon visit of the Trulli’s capital, the unique place built by “trulli” (ancient rustic house with the roof shaped like a overturned cone). Visit of the monumental-historical centres of “Monti” and “Aia Piccola”. Come back to the hotel, dinner and overnight stay.
3° day.
Monday: Lecce – Ostuni.
After breakfast leave toward Lecce. Stop in Ostuni, situated on the higher hill, where there is the white scenography of the ancient village. The urbanistic ground, grow in the middle ages, between X and XI sec., rises on the vestige of a messapica town. It has ovoid plan and a very characteristic aspect, with alleys, archivolts, little external stairs, and white-washed houses. You can visit with a guide, the Cathedral, the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena dei Pazzi and the Church of the Annunziata. Arrive in Lecce. You can visit places of particular historical interest of Lecce, like: P.za S.Oronzo (terminal column of the Via Appia, Romanic Amphitheatre of II sec D.C., the Sedile, the little Church of S. Marco), the Church of Santa Croce, the maximum expression of the salentina baroque, the Duomo, with its characteristic two facades, the Castle of Carlo V. etc. Accomodation in Hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
4° day.
Tuesday: Galatina – Gallipoli.
Breakfast and leave to Galatina. Visit of the Church of S. Caterina. It was built in 1391, and inside there are interesting frescos, which cover almost all surfaces of the walls and the vaults. There are represented numerous scenes about the drop of Babylon, the allegory of the church, the Genesis and the Life of Christ, etc. Visit of the historical centre and continuation toward Gallipoli, ancient seafaring town, it suggests to visit of the old town, which was an isle, today it is linked at the dry land with a bridge of the ‘500. Particular attention to the Cathedral, its inside can be considered a pinacotheca and the Greek Fountain, which is often erroneously attributed at the Hellenistic period, but it was erected during the Renaissance period in honour of the Greek civilization. Come back to Lecce. Dinner and overnight stay.
5° day.
